Winter Vacation 2009...Flagstaff, Lake Havasu. Los Angeles, and Thatcher!

Yeah... Winter Vacation was a crazy one. We were in Flagstaff for a week of it so Dave could finish up work. On Friday my sisters and Holli were able to come up, which was so much fun! We were going to all carpool down to Show Low on Saturday for our dear friend and old roommate's wedding! We spent Friday enjoying the Flagstaff weather. We went sledding and played in the snow and ice skating. I have some fun pictures of snow play, but unfortunately didn't get any ice skating.

Dave Zooming Down the Slope!

The Whole Group with our sleds!

We tried making a lying down snowman...

And this is our standing up snowman we made. It was so good that people were coming by asking us if they could take pictures with it! haha

Dave getting in trouble..

Brooke's random baby snowman with a... cigar??

Anyway, somewhere during that fun day I ate something that didn't settle well, yeah I got food poisoning. It hit me while we were ice skating and Holli stopped by Big 5 on the way home and I let out everything (so I thought) that was inside me. But no... there was more to come. Try having some sort of bodily export every two minutes till 4 in the morning. Needless to say I missed Jessica and Joseph's wedding :(. I really wanted to be there to support them. And I had to go to the hospital the next day because I was SO dizzy and needed fluids. They said my blood pressure was around 89/54... LOW! Well after that we went to Havasu and my laziness begins. Something about going home, where mom is there to cook, and I have no obligations, tired after a long semester, I just shut down! My family probably wonders how I accomplish anything when I am in school, but it is like I am a different person! haha. But for Christmas Eve and Christmas day we were able to go to Los Angeles to see Lance (my brother), and we had such a good time!

We got to go see a reconstruction of a buried Greek Villa from Pompeii. Lots of unique artwork and very pretty architecture!

A cool tile set up

Dave and I in the gardens area.

Titled "Head of a Young Woman"--haha. Good thing Brooke is much cuter than THAT young woman with beady eyes!

A cool shot Dave got there of rocks...

We also got to go hike the Hollywood sign!

Standing right above it

And to not put an end to our adventures, we got to go see the Grauman's Chinese Theatre where movie stars put there handprints and footprints.

I LOVE Shirley Temple! Look at her cute little feet and hands!

Dave with Jimmy Stewart's mark.

Oh yea, and we ran in to Justin Timberlake while we were there ;).

Well the 9 of us (oh yeah, did I mention there was 9 of us in an 8 passenger suburban with 3 guys over 6 foot?). Fun stuff. Anyway, we went back to Havasu and spent the rest of the week there.

Then Dave and I went to Thatcher to spend New Years with his family. We had such a good time playing games galore (they are my kind of people) and counting down to the New Year. We didn't take any pictures unfortunately, but we always have fun when we go down there. Dave's brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Cadie, took us kayaking on this cute cute duck pond/lake thing. It was so much fun! We are glad they let us do that with them. Anyway after all that fun we headed back to Flagstaff ready for school to start again. Back to the grind.

2009 - A Snow Odyssey

About a month ago, I took the time to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey. I can't say that I liked it..rather bizarre. Anyway, while having a snow day with Brittany, her sisters Lizzy and Brooke, and her friend Holli, lightening hit my brain and I ended up making this spoof of the movie. If you've never seen it or haven't for a long time, go to this video to recap what I'm trying to mimic. Enjoy!!! -Dave

Our first adventures after the honeymoon...

After your married you are supposed to love each other no matter what right? I guess this gave us the courage to be crazy and dye our hair red with a one month wash out dye just to experiment. Goodness, well Dave looked alright, me on the other hand... can you say pippie longstockings? Yikes! And unfortunately it lasted longer than a month because it stained my hair... *sigh* he still loves me though! Then I got the courage to cut my hair, after all, I didn't need it to style for a wedding anymore! Dave says he likes me with short hair. It sure was different.

It was great, we went out to our little backyard, and lo and behold we found a cute bush with little strawberries! They were pretty good too. I guess, being from Lake Havasu, I get way too excited when I see something growing...seeing as it is not a common occurrence.

And then came another funny situation... giving Dave my first hair cut EVER. I was terrified. He tried to talk me through it, but alas, it took an hour to do...sad! The first one actually turned out pretty good!

The funny part came later (which unfortunately I do not have a picture of). I was using the left ear bit on the razor. I turned it the opposite way it was supposed to be used and he had a nice line around his ear for awhile!

Honeymoon

We went on a honeymoon to Cozumel, Mexico. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! It was a little bit humid, but everything else was wonderful. We bought an all-inclusive package, which included hotel room, plane ticket round-trip, food, activities, etc. And it was SUCH a good deal we couldn't pass it up. Our hotel had its own private beach with the softest sand ever! And, lucky for us, there was very few people there, so we pretty much had the beach to ourselves!

And here was the GORGEOUS view from our room...

We went snorkeling, which was amazing. We saw a creepy baracuda (sp?). It kept eyeing me, so I hid behind dave.. haha.
The hotel provided lots of entertaining things to do, they had bingo nights, karaoke, a pool table, ping pong, volleyball, etc.

Pics of karaoke and my bingo winnings...

One last thing... my one complaint of Cozumel is....

THOSE DARN MOSQUITOS! THEY ATE ME ALIVE! I had over 45 bites on my body. Dave barely had anything. I must have sweet blood. I better watch out for vampires!! ;)

The first of all Hatch blogs...

Well now that Dave and I are living the married life, we want friends and family to be able to know what is going on in our lives. We had a wonderful wedding and were so grateful to all the friends and family that came! It was a BLAST!!!!! We have had so much fun together so far and hope to be able to share our fun times with you.
